Massage strokes are used to lengthen, spread and separate muscle groups and fascial planes of tissue. Pressure is often slow and deliberate. This type of massage is commonly referred to as ‘deep tissue’, but does not have to be “deep” to be effective. I draw from trigger point therapy; isometric and passive stretching; and myofascial techniques. I aim to help you feel better with long lasting results.
I have helped people with anxiety attacks, low back pain, rhuematoid arthritis, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), fibromyalgia, surgery recovery, cancer, shoulder spasms, and sometimes just plain old fatigue and exhaustion.
I have trained in the Anatomy Trains system, developed by Tom Myers. It emphasizes musculo-skeletal anatomy in terms of 12 connected lines of myofascia throughout the body. Focusing on the interconnections of tissue that underlie the compensatory strain patterns that lead to pain syndromes, this view of anatomy moves beyond the traditional, mechanical ’cause and effect’ actions of muscles to the integrative connections of real-life movement.
I have trained in Swedish massage which includes gliding strokes, kneading, vibration, shaking, tapping and joint mobilization. Swedish massage can be invigorating or deeply relaxing, depending on the desired outcome.
Massage can be used to support treatment of:
- Plantar Faciitis
- Recovery from Surgery
- Muscular Spasms

Cupping is a method of applying acupressure with cups by creating a vacuum on the patient’s skin to dispel stagnation — stagnant blood and lymph, thereby improving qi flow. The skin and muscular/connective tissue is drawn into the cup. The cups are moved slowly in the area or will be stationary, depending on the desired outcome. Cupping at SHC massage is mainly recommended for the treatment of soft tissue pain, chronic cough, and has great benefits for clearing lung congestion. Read more »
